Counsellor Connection

Counsellor Connection

Blackie School is pleased to have April Reschny as our Family School Liaison Counsellor (FSLC) on Wednesdays.

The FSLC provides mental health supports to students. This can be accomplished through collaboration with teachers, working directly with families, facilitating small groups, teaching social & emotional curriculums in classrooms, and meeting with students individually.

Feel free to contact April with any questions or if you are in need of additional information

Christmas Supports:

The holidays can be a stressful time of year for many families as well as a financial burden that really can impact the true meaning of the holidays.  We are fortunate to live in a community that wants to do what they can to bring joy to as many families as possible through programs that help lesson the financial burden of gift giving or providing a special meal.

Please consider reaching out to April Reschny (Family School Liaison Counsellor – Blackie School) for more information or support around Christmas:

MyCityCare runs a free Christmas program called the Shop of Wonders. The Shop of Wonders is for any family trying to make ends meet this Christmas. We believe that no family should have to choose between putting food on the table and providing the Christmas experience for their children. No strings attached. Once the family is registered, a volunteer will reach out to them to set up a private shopping time for their family.

The Shop of Wonders is a self referral program but schools can support families with the referral process as well.

Registration will remain open until December 20th but we highly recommend that families get registered and book their spot early.
