Monica Crane appointed Principal at Cameron Crossing School

Foothills School Division is pleased to announce the following School Leadership appointment for the 2023-2024 School Year

Please join us in welcoming Ms. Monica Crane to Foothills School Division. After an extensive recruitment process, Ms. Crane has been appointed Principal of Cameron Crossing School, effective August 31, 2023. Ms. Crane will also provide system leadership as Coordinator for Alternative Programming Services and Student Well-Being.  

Significant strengths and varied relevant experience relative to the leadership profile developed for Cameron Crossing were evident in Monica’s application, interview, and references for this leadership opportunity. Among her diverse competencies, Monica brings a deep understanding of the social-emotional and transitional needs of students from elementary through to high school completion that will complement the excellent work our team at Cameron Crossing provides for students.  

Ms. Crane brings 17 years of accomplished teaching, school leadership and system-level leadership experience from her time with both the Calgary Board of Education (CBE) and as a teacher at Westwood College in the UK. Over 16 years with CBE Monica has served as Learning Leader at Bishop Pinkham School and James Fowler High School, Assistant Principal at Centennial High School and Abbeydale Schools, and System Assistant Principal (Well-Being) with the School Improvement department.  

Monica holds her Master of Counselling from Gonzaga University, a Bachelor of Education from Saint Francis Xavier University, and a Bachelor of Arts from Cape Breton University. In 2019 Ms. Crane received her professional Psychologist designation from the College of Alberta Psychologists and is a registered clinical psychologist.  

As she joins Foothills School Division as Principal at Cameron Crossing, Monica shares: "I am excited to join the Foothills School Division. My family and I have called Foothills County home for the past 9 years, and I am honoured to serve our community in this new role. My passion is working with our most unique learners, and I will be a dogged advocate for our vulnerable youth and their families. I look forward to working together as we leverage new opportunities to improve student outcomes and ensure all our learners become knowledgeable, caring, and contributing members of a global community."
