ATM: Do Better

ATM-20251124

It can be easy to fall into the habit of working within one’s own echo chamber—relying solely on internal perspectives and familiar routines. However, true growth and innovation come when we step beyond these boundaries, inviting diverse viewpoints and fostering collaboration with others.

Recently, our school division had the privilege of hosting a small delegation of school and system leaders from the Lester B. Pearson School Board in Montréal. Their purpose was to learn more about how our system and schools run the French Immersion programming. The visit was a powerful example of how opening our doors to external partners can lead to meaningful dialogue, fresh insights, and mutual learning.

During their time with us, the visiting educators observed classrooms, participated in discussions with teachers and administrators, and exchanged strategies for supporting student achievement in language acquisition. This collaborative exchange not only allowed Lester B. Pearson educators to bring new ideas back to their own system, but also prompted our own team to reflect on our practices, celebrate our successes, and identify areas for further growth.

Working together in this way challenges assumptions and encourages continuous improvement. It reminds us that the best solutions are rarely found in isolation, but rather through open conversation and a willingness to learn from one another. For our school division, we see these opportunities as a cornerstone of our efforts to “do better” – we achieve greater operational efficiency, more creative programming, and ultimately, better outcomes for students.

As we continue, let us embrace collaboration not just as a strategy, but as a core value in shaping the future of education, shaping community. The rewards are clear when we work together: enriched perspectives, stronger relationships, and a learning environment that thrives on innovation and inclusivity.

Yours in learning,
