Applications for 2022/23 Education Minister's Parent & Teacher Advisory Councils Now Open

Applications for the 2022-2023 Minister’s Teacher Advisory Council & 2022-2023 Minister's Parent Advisory Council are now open.

The Alberta Ministry of Education is actively recruiting 40 educators and 40 parents/guardians to form the 2022-2023 Minister's Teacher Advisory Council and 2022-2023 Minister's Parent Advisory Council, respectively.

Those selected will serve a 10-month term, meeting with the minister four times over the course of the school year. Council members will provide valuable feedback and input on a wide range of topics concerning public education in Alberta. The councils will include Indigenous and francophone peoples and representatives from a variety of geographical locations, school authorities, cultural origins and socio-economic backgrounds. All qualified individuals are encouraged to apply.


Minister’s Teacher Advisory Council

The Minister's Teacher Advisory Council (MTAC) is a forum for current, certificated K-12 teachers with a broad range of experiences and diverse views from across Alberta. Council members provide the Minister of Education with insights, suggestions and perspectives on key education topics. If selected, council members will:

  • offer diverse perspectives on key education priorities and emerging topics relevant to Alberta’s education system;
  • attend all meetings;
  • foster open and respectful dialogue between the Minister of Education and Alberta teachers;
  • continue to build healthy and strong partnerships between Alberta teachers and the government, and, 
  • enhance the government's ability to understand and serve the growing needs of schools and students in Alberta

Minister's Parent Advisory Council 

Application deadline: August 5th, 2022

Are you the parent or guardian of an Alberta K-12 student and interested in helping to shape provincial education initiatives? The Minister's Parent Advisory Council (MPAC) has an important role in Alberta's education system. Working at the provincial level, all council members will:

  • offer diverse perspectives on key education priorities and emerging topics relevant to Alberta’s education system;
  • attend all meetings;
  • foster open and respectful dialogue with each other and with the Minister of Education as well as ministry staff.
