Advanced Acting / Touring Theatre 15/25/35 (LDC1975 | LDC2975 | LDC3975)

Credits: 5

Prerequisite: None

Students will study theatre as a production-based course. They will focus their learning by exploring and experiencing skills as performers and technicians necessary to release a theatrical and public performance.

The intent of this course is to provide a performance and technical experience that will encourage students to develop their creative, intuitive, spontaneous and imaginative potential. In providing this opportunity, students will be more likely to personalize their learning and develop as life-long learners. In order to accomplish this, the following outcomes span all three levels: 15-25-35. Students will:

  • Focus on theatrical production as the learning vehicle
  • Acquire competency as a member of an ensemble
  • Acquire competency as a member of a technical team
  • Intensify creative and critical thinking abilities through the dramaturgical study of and reaction to a specific genre
  • Explore and develop the acting discipline studied through the development of the physical, vocal, and cognitive aspects of advanced acting
  • Explore and develop the disciplines of design, set/properties, lighting, and sound as well as learn some basics of make-up/hair and costuming
  • Move through the process of concept, design, and application culminating in “tech-ing” a final dramatic showcase
  • Develop an appreciation for the role and impact of theatre on an audience and in society
