PE PROGRAM

Course Content – Sports Performance students will apply basic training, movement and nutrition principles to health and performance related components of fitness. We will explore and assess the impact of mental fitness on optimal sport and demonstrate strategies to strengthen mental fitness. Students will also learn basic coaching skills that are common to all sports. This course is designed for the athletes involved in extra-curricular sporting activities both in the school and community. 


Sports Performance 10

Credits: Every student must earn 6 credits minimum

Prerequisite: None

CTS modules will include:

  • REC1040: Foundations for Training 1 
  • HSS1020: Nutrition and Wellness
  • REC1045: Group Exercise Trends (pre-req: REC1040)
  • REC1050: Sports Psychology 1
  • REC1910: REC Project A


Sports Performance 20

Credits: Every student must earn 6 credits minimum

Prerequisite: Sport Performance 10

CTS modules will include:

  • REC2040: Foundations for Training 2 (pre-req: REC1040)
  • REC2010: Nutrition for Rec activities & Sport (no pre-req)
  • REC2045: Training for Core (pre-req: REC2040)
  • REC2120: Coaching 1 (no pre-req)
  • REC2910: REC Project B (no pre-req)


Sports Performance 30

Credits: Every student must earn 6 credits minimum

Prerequisite: Sport Performance 10

CTS modules will include:

  • REC3030: Speed and Agility (pre-req: REC2040)
  • REC3085: Olympic Weightlifting (pre-req: REC2040)
  • REC3120: Coaching 2 (pre-req: REC2120)
  • REC3130: Officiating (no pre-req)
  • REC3910: REC Project C (no pre-req)
