Longview School Leadership Announcement

Leadership Announcement

Andrea Laubman appointed Principal, Longview School & Division Second Language Services
Jennifer Sanford
Manager, Communications & Community Engagement

Please join us in congratulating Andrea Laubman as she joins the Longview school community as Principal beginning August 2022. Andrea's new role will also include instructional leadership responsibilities for Division Second Language Services, including French Immersion.

Diverse teaching and leadership experiences inform her school leadership practice. Most recently, Andrea has served as Vice Principal of Ècole Okotoks Junior High School. Andrea has teaching and school leadership across the full K-12 spectrum; spanning two Alberta public school jurisdictions, independent schools, and international schooling with Alberta curriculum.

With a student-centred and servant-leadership orientation, Andrea has consistently demonstrated success in her role as a teacher, school counsellor, language leader, and vice principal. We believe this will be a great benefit to the student and community of Longview who will experience an optimal learning environment where engagement, support, and success are achieved.

Andrea holds a Bachelor of Education from the University of Calgary with a major in French Immersion, and Master of School Counselling from the University of Calgary. In 202, Andrea completed the Alberta Education Leadership Quality Standard (LQS) courses and holds her LQS certificate.

As she prepares to join the Longview school community Andrea shares, "It is with gratitude that I am embarking on this journey to support the students, staff, and families of Longview School. I have held cherished memories of my childhood in a small K-12 school and I am thrilled at the opportunity to work alongside the student in high country. Thank you to the staff and students of OJ for the past three years. I have learned so much from your passion, energy, and dedication."

Chris Fuzessy, our superintendent, offers, "I am happy to offer my congratulations to Ms. Laubman as she embarks on this next step in her leadership journey. She undoubtedly brings a wealth of experience and expertise to this new role that will benefit Longview School and the FSD community. On behalf of the Ècole Okotoks Junior High School team and community, thank you for your leadership and positive impact. And, on behalf of the Longview School community the FSD Team, welcome to Longview School and congratulations."
