Cayley School Communication Plan

Cayley Families,

Student learning reaches it’s peak when students, parents and teachers are all on the same team- each member of the team understands a child’s strengths and growth areas, and is on board with goals for students to grow (sometimes those goals are academic and sometimes they are social/emotional).

It is thus crucial that the school communicates your child’s progress regularly. We are committed to fair, accurate and timely assessment, and wish to make the following commitments to you as families around our communication:

  1. We will send formal learner profiles home twice per year; the first will be in early February and the second will be at the end of school in June.
  2. We will also host formal parent-teacher interviews twice per year; once in the November and once in April (in which you and your child will have the opportunity to discuss their progress and make improvements before the learner profile comes out).
  3. We will send (at minimum) bi-weekly emails that share important class information including curriculum updates, assessment details and upcoming events.
  4. We commit to informing you when we have a concern about your child’s progress in any subject, and will be open to answering your questions promptly when you have them.
  5. We will update your child’s marks monthly (or more frequently) on edsembli so that you can see this progress when you log in.
  6. Finally, we will endeavor to send a weekly update home from the office, though this will focus more on upcoming events than student progress.

Please don’t hesitate to call me to discuss anything in this letter
