Promoting a Safe and Positive End to the School Year for Senior Students

2026News

The final weeks of high school are an important time. Let’s keep them safe and welcoming for all students.

Through our partnership with the local RCMP, we have been made aware of the “Senior Assassin” game—a student-coordinated water gun fight that has been circulating among graduating students across Alberta. Today, we are making it clear that this activity is not supported by Foothills School Division or any of its schools. Participation in this game can lead to safety concerns, disrupt the learning environment, and does not align with the Division’s commitment to safe, caring, welcoming, and respectful learning environments.

Safety is priority. Weapons, including their replicas and imitations must not be brought to school. Families and students are to be aware that the Senior Assassin game, if conducted on school or FSD property, will be addressed in accordance with Division Administrative Procedures and safety protocols.

Safety is a shared responsibility.  We urge families to discuss the potential risks associated with the Senior Assassin game and replica firearms, including misunderstandings that may arise in the community. Should students choose to participate in the game outside of school hours and property, we encourage the observance of safe practices including ensuring that the water guns are clearly distinguished as toys from a far distance, private property is respected, and the disruption of others is avoided.

Please join us to reinforce a responsible and respectful school and community for everyone.

Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.

Yours in learning,

Foothills School Division
