6PS Hearts and Helping Hands Charity Market - 2024

Helping Hands Charity Market

Grade 6 Payne & Stewart Charity Market

The Grade 6 students in Ms. Payne and Mrs. Stewart’s class will hold an “everything market” to raise money for a charity called Play-It-Forward. The members from Play-It-Forward will be travelling to Uganda in March to work with an elementary school to teach them a variety of physical education activities. They will provide them with the necessary equipment to run the games after they leave. Our Grade 6 students have been creating art, planning what kind of baking they would like to make and collecting donations of gently used items (small toys, books, etc.) to sell.

The Market is intended to be accessible to all our Turner Valley students, so all items will range from 25 cents to $4.00. The Market will occur on Thursday, February 8th, Friday, February 9th, and  Monday, February 12th. The Grade 6 students will sell items from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm (lunch hour).

Some items for sale are hand-crafted canvas paintings, pottery, paper creations, snap bracelets, glider planes, animal keychains, popcorn bags, gummies, cookies and other baked goods.

The students have also put together three jars of candy (jellybeans, Jolly Ranchers and gumballs) for the students to “guess the amount.” These will be on the office counter, ready for the students to come and make a guess until February 12th. The guesses will be checked out, and if more than one person gets the correct guess, then the names of those students will go to a second draw to pick a winner. The entries to guess and possibly win the jar will cost 25 cents per ticket.

The students from 6PS have set a goal to raise $300.00 from the Market to give to Play-It-Forward!

So gather some quarters for the second week in February and support the Hearts and Helping Hands Charity Market! Thanks in advance for your support!
