Dear Westmount Families,
We are excited to welcome you back into the school for our Spring Learner Conferences, an opportunity for our students to take the lead in sharing their learning, growth, and goals. Student‑led conferences align beautifully with Westmount’s core values—ownership, responsibility, contribution, and connection —as students guide you through their projects, daily work, and personal portfolios with confidence and pride.
Research on student‑led conferences consistently shows that when learners take an active role in presenting their progress, they develop stronger self‑awareness, increased motivation, and a deeper sense of accountability for their learning. This format empowers students to reflect on their strengths, identify next steps, and communicate their learning journey in meaningful ways.
We invite families to join us on Tuesday, April 14, or Thursday, April 16, for 30 minutes. Conferences will run 3:45 – 6:45 on Tuesday and 3:45 to 6:15 on Thursday. During this time, your child will lead you through their learning. Teachers will be present throughout the evening to support, answer questions, and facilitate conversations, but they will not be conducting one‑to‑one formal conferences. As always, if you have specific questions or concerns, please contact your child’s teacher directly to book an individual appointment.
