Westmount Wolves

February 13, 2026

We wish our families a joyful and restful Family Day break filled with wonderful quality time together. We are also holding onto hope that this unseasonably warm February weather continues to shine on us all through the rest of the month!

NEW INFORMATION

February Break: Just a reminder that there is no school next week due to Family Day and Teachers Convention. We wish our Westmount families a lovely, restful holiday. School resumes on Monday, February 23.

School Council: Tuesday, February 24th is our Westmount School Council meeting from 5:30 – 7:00. At Westmount, we believe that our school is at its strongest when it is a true partnership with our families. Whether you have questions, big ideas for the future, or you simply want to stay better informed about what’s happening behind the scenes, we would love to have you join us in the Learning Commons for our meeting!

Learner Profiles and ILP Updates: Just a reminder that Learner Profiles and ILP reviews went out on Thursday to families. Please be sure to read through these reports and sign/click on the acknowledgement to share that you have read the documents. As always, please reach out to teachers if you have any questions or concerns.

Pink Shirt Day/Westmount KINDNESS week: Our Wolfpack Leadership group is looking to spread some kindness after the February break! Pink Shirt Day is Wednesday, February 25th.  By wearing pink, we show our commitment to creating a school community where everyone feels safe, valued, and respected. The day began after two students supported a peer who was bullied for wearing a pink shirt, and it has grown into a powerful reminder that small acts of kindness can make a big difference. The entire week will involve spreading Kindness all over our building in multiple ways. Our goal is to ensure this focus increases a sense of belonging, creates a collaborative spirit where we honour all individuals in our school, reduces the potential for unkind/bullying behaviour and models the importance of celebrating one another

REMINDERS and UPDATES

Planning for 2026-2027 (Registrations or Moves): Our planning for the next school year has already begun. We have been meeting with our Division Office to project student population and discuss initial staffing. If you have Kindergarten students to register, we kindly request that you do it as soon as possible to ensure we have enough staffing in place to welcome our new little wolves. Additionally, if your family is planning on moving/leaving, we would love for you to contact the office to let us know. Thank you!

Kindergarten Registration – If you have a student who will begin Kindergarten in September of 2026, registration is now open. Please go to Registration for more information.

Candygrams: We thank you for supporting our Grade 9 students by purchasing candygrams. The candygrams raised over $600 to support our final farewell to our Grade 9 students.

Alberta Education and Childcare Assurance Survey: Parents of Grades 4 and 7 students, please check your inboxes for an email from Lauren Frandle and/or Doug Stevens with a link to the survey. The results of this survey help us incorporate your voice into identifying areas of strength at Westmount School and areas for growth as we plan for the next school year.

Help Wanted (FOWSS)! Watch for communications about our FOWSS (Friends of Westmount School Society). We need new parents to help us with fundraising – in particular, we would love to know if you have a background in accounting/bookkeeping and have 3-5 hours of time every 2 months. Please contact the office if you have this expertise and you’re willing to help! Thank you.

Save the Date (Paul Davis) - Parent Engagement Opportunity: We are excited to welcome Paul Davis to Westmount School for a presentation to our junior high students on social media and online safety on Friday, March 20. There will also be a parent session from 6:00 – 7:00pm for parents who wish to attend. Mr. Davis has been featured on Global National News discussing social media and online safety concerns and strategies for students and their families. Mark the date to attend the parent presentation in the evening.

Hot Lunch: After the break, our hot lunch is Out to Lunch. Please ensure your orders are in by Saturday (February 21). Link to order: https://healthyhunger.ca/index.php.

Have a wonderful week off, Wolves!
