WESTMOUNT WEEKLY NEWS
March 13, 2026
As the March winds bring a fickle mix of lingering snow squalls and brilliant spring sunshine, our school hallways are buzzing with the energy of a season in transition. We are officially on the countdown, with just two weeks of focused learning and mid-winter fun remaining before the Foothills School Division spring break begins.
NEW INFORMATION
FSD Divisional Learning Day: We would like to remind all of our families that there is no school on Monday, March 16. Our teachers will be gathering at Foothills Composite High School for our Divisional Professional Learning day. We will see all of our students back on Tuesday, March 17.
Newcomer Information Night (Foothills Immigration Society): The Foothills Immigration Society will be hosting an information night at Westmount School on Monday, March 16 at 6:00 PM. If you are new to our area, or would like to connect with the Immigration Society, we encourage you to attend!
Patrol Appreciation: We are happy to recognize the amazing work of our Grade 5 and 6 patrollers. You will see them outside each morning and afternoon in their bright orange vests. All patrollers will be enjoying a Pizza Party Lunch on Tuesday, March 17 at lunch. Thank you for your amazing service, patrollers! We also remind all of our drivers to watch for our patrols and their signs while they are out crossing our students.
New Families School Tours: Westmount will be hosting school tours for all of our new families that are coming for the 2026-2027 school year. The first school tour is this Wednesday, March 18 at 4:00 PM. School tours are about 30 minutes in length. We will host another school tour later in the spring.
100 Day: Thursday, January 19 marks the 100th Day of School! Many of our classrooms will be celebrating this milestone. Please see classroom newsletters for more information.
Paul Davis: Paul Davis will be at our school on Friday, March 20. Our Grade 3 to 5 students will enjoy a special online presentation from Paul, learning more about digital citizenship and online safety. Our Grades 6 through 9 students will have an in-person presentation and question and answer period with Mr. Davis on March 20th, beginning at 1:45 PM. Foothills School Division App: Stay connected and receive notifications directly from Westmount School by visiting the app store on your device and downloading the Foothills School Division App. Once downloaded, you will be prompted to launch the app and follow the on-screen instructions to create an account.
Planning for 2026-2027 (Registrations or Moves): Our planning for the next school year has already begun. We have been meeting with our Division Office to project student population and discuss initial staffing. If you have Kindergarten students to register, we kindly request that you do it as soon as possible to ensure we have enough staffing in place to welcome our new little wolves. Additionally, if your family is planning on moving/leaving, we would love for you to contact the office to let us know. Thank you!
Kindergarten Registration – If you have a student who will begin Kindergarten in September of 2026, registration is now open. Please go to the Registration link for more information.
Hot Lunch: Our hot lunch for next week is Pizzaberg Cafe. Please ensure your orders are in by Saturday (March 14 ). Link to order: https://healthyhunger.ca/index.php.
Have a wonderful weekend, Wolves!
