CPAWS Visits Grades 2 and 3: A thank you to CPAWS (Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society) for their 1st visit to our Grade 2 and 3 students. They shared an interactive program in which our students become eco-detectives to investigate the threats facing Alberta’s species at risk through collaborative problem-solving and guided outdoor activities. We look forward to seeing them next week for part 2!
Volunteer Tea: We are thrilled to welcome the community into the building for our upcoming Volunteer Tea on the afternoon of June 18th at 1:30 PM. So many of our school’s best moments and daily programs simply couldn’t happen without the incredible dedication of our volunteers, and we want to celebrate everything you do for our students. Please join us so we can show our appreciation. RSVP here: https://forms.gle/2PZcuLA5aRzpF9N98
Fine Arts Night: We regret to inform you that we need to cancel our Westmount Fine Arts Night scheduled for June. Unfortunately, a key organizer will be away, so we will not be able to have the event ready for our families in early June.
Transportation: Please note that Transportation Services opened applications for the 2026-2027 school year on May 20th and will close on June 19, 2026. You must be registered at the school before applying for transportation services, and families are required to register every year. The fee is $100/rider to a maximum of $250 per household. Application and fee payment will be completed through your Edsembli Family Portal. For more information, please review: Transportation
Track and Field: Congratulations to our over 60 junior high students who were invited to the Divisional Track and Field competition at HTA. Our students demonstrated the Westmount School Core Values throughout the track event, showing teamwork, respect, and determination. They contributed to the community by helping with cleanup and gave their personal best in each of their individual events. A special thank you to Mr. Jones and Mrs. Watkins for their outstanding support, organization, and supervision. Their dedication helped make this event run smoothly and successfully.
Book Fair: Thank you to our Westmount community for your support of our Scholastic Book Fair. Families purchased over $4000 worth of books, which helps us continue to purchase new books and resources for our Learning Commons.

REMINDERS & UPDATES
May is Math Month at Westmount School! May is Math Month at Westmount, and we’re excited to engage our entire K–9 community in joyful, hands‑on math learning all month long. Students will take part in estimation stations, math riddles, daily problem‑solving challenges, new fact‑fluency games, and creative STEM activities designed to spark curiosity and build confidence. Throughout the building, we’re making math learning visible, fun, and interactive to support strong numeracy skills and nurture a positive, growth‑oriented mindset around mathematics. We can’t wait to see our students explore, take risks, and celebrate the many ways math shows up in their world.
Bike Safety at Westmount: To ensure a safe environment for everyone, all students must WALK, their bikes, scooters, and skateboards while on school property. Riding these wheeled devices creates significant hazards near busy entrances and the staff parking lot, increasing the risk of collisions with moving vehicles. By walking, students can maintain better control and remain highly visible to drivers during drop-off and pick-up times. We appreciate the cooperation of our entire school community in following these safety rules to protect our students. Thank you for doing your part to keep our campus safe. As a reminder, please do NOT park in the staff lot at the end of the school day. Thank you.
Hot Lunch: Our hot lunch for next week is OPA. Please ensure your orders are in by Saturday (May 23). Link to order: https://healthyhunger.ca/index.php.
Have a wonderful weekend, Wolves!
