WESTMOUNT WEEKLY NEWS

Wednesday, September 2, 2026

Welcome from Ms. Burrows, Principal

Dear Westmount Families,

What a wonderful start to the school year! As I walk through our hallways, classrooms, and learning spaces, I continue to be impressed by the enthusiasm, kindness, and sense of belonging that make Westmount such a special place. As a new member of the Westmount community, I am grateful for the warm welcome I have received from students, families, and staff.

At Westmount, we are guided by Foothills School Division's commitment to Engagement, Support, and Success for each learner. Our staff are focused on building strong relationships, establishing positive classroom routines, and creating welcoming learning environments where every student feels valued and connected.

One of the many things I appreciate about our K-9 school is the strong sense of community that exists across all grade levels. Whether students are learning, leading, contributing, or supporting one another, they help make Westmount a place where everyone can thrive. We know that strong partnerships between home and school are essential to student success, and we look forward to working alongside you throughout the year.

Thank you for sharing your children with us each day. I am excited about the year ahead and all that we will accomplish together as a community.

Warm regards,

Stacey Burrows
 Principal, Westmount School

About the Westmount Weekly News- Welcome Back! We are so excited about beginning a brand-new school year! Our first week of school is almost over, and it is time for the first Westmount Weekly News (WWN). If you are new to Westmount, we strive to send all families a weekly email with the information you need for the following week. Based on feedback from our School Council, we are aiming to have this email out on Wednesdays or Thursdays this year. Classroom teachers usually will email any updates about their classes on Fridays or Mondays. All information in this email is also posted to our website (https://www.foothillsschooldivision.ca/westmount) and to the Foothills School Division app, which we highly recommend that you have on your phones (see information below). We are thrilled to have our students back and look forward to learning with you throughout the school year!

REMINDERS & UPDATES

Bike Safety at Westmount: To ensure a safe environment for everyone, all students must WALK, their bikes, scooters, and skateboards while on school property. Riding these wheeled devices creates significant hazards near busy entrances and the staff parking lot, increasing the risk of collisions with moving vehicles. By walking, students can maintain better control and remain highly visible to drivers during drop-off and pick-up times. We appreciate the cooperation of our entire school community in following these safety rules to protect our students. Thank you for doing your part to keep our campus safe. As a reminder, please do NOT park in the staff lot at the end of the school day. Thank you.

No Parking: Please be aware that we have a new NO PARKING sign in our staff parking lot (at the back of the lot near the grade one door). We have had some safety concerns and need to encourage our parents to wait in the loop or at the front of the parking lot.

Foothills School Division App: Stay connected and receive notifications directly from Westmount School by visiting the app store on your device and downloading the Foothills School Division App. Once downloaded, you will be prompted to launch the app and follow the on-screen instructions to create an account. Follow this link for further instructions: https://www.foothillsschooldivision.ca/_ci/p/17765/introducing-the-fsd-app

Hot Lunch: Hot lunch for next week is Domino's. Please ensure your orders are in by Saturday for next Thursday. Link to order: https://healthyhunger.ca/index.php. A huge thank you to our volunteers who give their time to help with our Healthy Hunger program every week.

Have a wonderful rest of the week and weekend, Wolves!
