Dear Parents 

We are pleased to offer Acer Chromebooks for purchase through Foothills School Division for $299. The personal purchase of these devices ensures that all students have access to a device during the school day.  Currently, we are able to accommodate students in grades 6-9 with an assigned laptop unless they have their own.  This may include an older model Macbook or Chromebook.  Ensuring students have a dedicated device is a priority and we highly recommend families consider purchasing your own Chromebook as we manage budgets and increasing school population.  Those Chromebooks that have been purchased and paid for will start arriving Thursday, September 15th to be deployed immediately.  Ongoing orders will continue to arrive as supply arrives.  As with many industries, supply chain issues may cause delays, but seem to be improving as we start this year.

Details of the device:

  • The current model is the ACER C733-C5AS-US N4020 1.10GHz 4GB 32GB 11.6IN CHROME OS.
  • These devices can typically receive Google updates for 5 years 
  • The Chromebook will come with a 3-year warranty that does not include accidental damage.
  • Foothills School Division will manage these devices. During the school year, between the hours of 8AM and 4PM, the devices will only accept FSD Student Logins. This ensures that students can seamlessly attach to the FSDMobile WIFI and enables students to write exams using their personal device. Outside of those hours and during the summer, the device will operate as a personal device and will accept all personal logins.
  • Once the student leaves the division, parents can request the FSD licence be removed from the device. Once the licence is removed, the Chromebook operates as a personal device.
  • Students will be responsible for cleaning and proper care of their device, including bringing it to school charged each day.

If you would like to purchase a student Chromebook through Foothills School Division, please email our school Hertiage@fsd38.ab.ca and a charge will be added to your student account bill. Once the charge is paid, we will provide you with a device.

Orders are placed frequently and you will be updated with an arrival time once your order has been received.
