Enhanced Student Support with Specialized Educational Assistant Training
On March 17, 2026, Foothills School Division proudly celebrated a milestone—the graduation of the second cohort of Educational Assistants from our Professional Learning Course. This achievement is more than just professional development; it’s a direct investment in our students’ success. By selecting 12 Educational Assistants from diverse schools and backgrounds and guiding them through 10 weeks of intensive training and eight after-school Communities of Practice, we are equipping our team to better support every learner. The collaborative learning and reflection led by the Inclusive Learning Team means our Educational Assistants are more confident and skilled, ready to foster positive relationships and inclusive environments for your children.
Feedback from participants has been positive, with many expressing gratitude for the supportive environment and the chance to learn from experienced educators.
"I gained more confidence in my role as an EA.”
“Thank you again for giving us the opportunity to learn with great experiences from other educators.”
Rhonda Bymak, Inclusive Learning Coordinator for Foothills School Division, who facilitated the training reflects on this opportunity, “Throughout this course, it has been inspiring to witness the commitment and growth shown by the participating Educational Assistants. It is a gift to be part of a learning community where we each bring our own skills and experiences in support of one another. Opportunities like this reaffirms our shared purpose in doing what is best for kids."
As we celebrate the accomplishments of this cohort, we also recognize the ongoing efforts of the Inclusive Learning Team and all Educational Assistants who work to create positive, supportive learning environments. This is just one story that is a testament to the power of teamwork, professional development, and the systems in place that drive engagement, support, and success for every student in our Division. Congratulations to all involved for modelling excellence and commitment to inclusive education.
