Principal's Year End Letter
Dear Cayley School families,
As we come to the end of another school year, I want to take a moment to thank each of you for the ongoing support, encouragement, and partnership you have shown throughout the year. Cayley School is a special place because of the students, staff, families, and community members who work together to make it feel welcoming, connected, and full of opportunity. It has been wonderful to see our students grow as learners, friends, leaders, and community members over the past several months.
Throughout the year, our students have brought energy, curiosity, kindness, and school spirit to our classrooms, hallways, playgrounds, assemblies, and community events. From academic learning and field trips to sports days, performances, celebrations, and everyday moments of connection, there has been so much to be proud of. Thank you to our families for cheering students on, helping with events, staying connected with teachers, and supporting learning at home.
As the year comes to a close, we also want to share some staff goodbyes and express our sincere appreciation. We say farewell to Mrs. Anderson, Mrs. Perras, and Ms. Hutchinson. Each of them has made meaningful contributions to Cayley School and has had a positive impact on students, families, and colleagues. We are grateful for the care, commitment, and professionalism they have brought to our school community, and we wish them all the very best in their next chapters.
We are also excited to welcome Ms. Boisvert, who will be joining us in Grade 6 next year in the mornings. We look forward to the student-centered and collaborative practice she will bring to our students and staff team. With Ms. Hutchinson leaving and Mrs. Patterson moving into our Learning Coach role, we are currently working through the hiring process for our Grade 7/8 teacher position. More information will be shared with families once we know more.
Looking ahead to next year, we also wanted to share a few important updates with families. Cayley School will be moving to a no-phone policy during school hours, including breaks. If students have their phones out at any point during the school day, the phone will be taken to the office and kept there until the end of the day, when students can pick it up before heading home. If students need to contact home during the day, they will always be able to call from the office. If students have multiple instances of being on their phones, further consequences could follow.
We will see everyone in a few months. We will have a transition day in which we will welcome our incoming kindergartens for a visit on the 28th of August. Any new students who want to come for a tour/visit can also call the office the week of the 24th to set up a time to come on the 28th as well. All students will be welcomed back after the weekend.
As we head into summer, I hope each of our students and families has time to rest, recharge, enjoy the sunshine, and make special memories together. Thank you again for being such an important part of our school community. We are proud of all that has been accomplished this year and look forward to welcoming students and families back in the fall.
Sincerely,
Griffin Ellis
