Welcome Back

Welcome Back to Cayley School

Dear Cayley School Families,

Welcome back! I hope everyone had a wonderful summer filled with time to rest, recharge, and enjoy special moments with family and friends. We are very excited to welcome students back on Monday and

begin another great year of learning, growing, and connecting together at Cayley School.

Starting the Year Together

As we return to school, staff are looking forward to helping students settle into routines, reconnect with classmates, and start the year with confidence. The first days of school are always an important time for building relationships, reviewing expectations, and creating a positive classroom community.

Monday Morning Arrival

On Monday morning, staff will be ready and waiting at the start of the day to welcome students as they arrive. We know the first day can bring excitement, questions, and a few nerves, so our team will be outside and throughout the school to help students find where they need to go, connect with classmates, and start the day feeling supported.

New Bell Schedule

We also want to share our new bell schedule for this year. One important change for families to note is the addition of an afternoon recess, which gives students another opportunity to move, reset, and return to class ready to learn.

Welcoming New Staff

We are very excited to welcome two new teachers to our Cayley School team this year. Mrs. Skanderup will be joining us in Grade 7/8, and Ms. Boisvert will be teaching Grade 6. We are thrilled to have them as part of our staff and look forward to the positive connections, learning experiences, and energy they will bring to our students and school community. Please say hello as you see them around the school.

No-Phone School Day

This year, we are moving to a no-phone policy for students. This means that phones should not be used during school hours, including breaks. If a phone is seen during the school day, it will be taken to the office, and students will be able to pick it up at the end of the day. If students have a smart watch, it will need to be in "school mode", or it may be taken to the office as well. Students who need to contact home during the day are always welcome to use the office phone. Parents and guardians can contact the office if they need to reach their child or pass on information. We appreciate your support as we work to reduce distractions and help students stay focused on learning, friendships, and being present at school.

Pancake Breakfast

To celebrate the start of the year, we will be hosting a pancake breakfast on Friday, the 4th. This will be a wonderful opportunity for our school community to come together, connect, and enjoy a fun start-up tradition. We look forward to seeing families there and sharing some time together as we begin the year. More details to come for this event!

Looking Ahead

There is so much to look forward to this year, and we are grateful for the opportunity to work alongside you in supporting your children. Thank you for your continued partnership, encouragement, and trust. We are excited for a fantastic year ahead at Cayley School!

Sincerely,

Griffin Ellis

Principal, Cayley School
