Dr. Morris Gibson supports a daily Physical Education program for all students. Instruction is provided by a Physical Education specialist and by the students’ homeroom teacher. Students will acquire skills through a variety of developmentally appropriate movement activities; dance, games, gymnastics, team sports, individual activities and activities in alternate environments. Our learning team is dedicated to promoting lifelong involvement with physical activity.
In addition to the wide variety of athletic opportunities, DMG offers enrichment activities such as swimming to the Division I students and inline skating, outdoor skating, and snowshoeing to the Division II students.
DMG also offers a variety of extra-curricular activities to engage students, foster character development and leadership potential. These programs are optional and take place during lunch hours and/or after school.
Elementary Cross Country Running Team (Grades 3-6)
Students interested in participating on their first athletic team at DMG can join the Elementary Cross Country Running Team. Practices take place at lunch recess with the meets taking place after school against other schools from the Foothills area.
Grade 2 Skipping Club
Grade 2 students are invited to spend lunch having fun with their peers while developing fundamental movement skills.
Students in Grades 1-6 are invited to join our lunch time intramurals to build on skills and games learned in Physical Education classes. These clubs take place throughout the year at lunch time.
Grade 6 Sports Teams:
Grade 6’s in our school are provided with the opportunity to compete against other Foothills Division schools in a variety of sports teams including: Flag Football, Tripleball, basketball and cross country.
