Kindergarten Registration
Kindergarten is one of the most exciting times in a child’s life. Ensuring each child makes a successful transition from home to school is a goal for parents and teachers.

Kindergarten Age
The Education Act requires that children be five years of age on or before December 31, 2021 to enroll in Kindergarten for the 2021-22 school year.
Children who are four years of age on or before December 31, 2021 may register for Junior Kindergarten for the 2021-22 school year.
School Boundaries
Foothills School Division has designated boundaries for all schools. We use boundaries to strategically ensure optimal student populations that support viable programming across the division. Find your designated school using our interactive boundary map. If you wish for your child to attend a school other than their designated school, please refer to Administrative Procedure 305 (School Attendance Areas) for details about the application process and applicable forms.
Kindergarten Open House
Each elementary school in FSD will be hosting a virtual Kindergarten Open House on Thursday Feburary 4th, 2021 at 6:30 pm. Check with your local school for further information. The information slides are available online.
Programs Available
Foothills School Division offers Kindergarten programming at all of its Elementary Schools. In addition to Kindergarten, FSD is proud to offer the following programming options:
- Junior Kindergarten: Offered at Big Rock School, École Percy Pegler School, École Joe Clark School (English & French), Spitzee School, and Blackie School
- French Immersion: Offered at École Percy Pegler School and École Joe Clark School
- Montessori: Offered at Big Rock School
Registration
Families are welcome to register online or at the school. Documents showing your child’s proof of age and legal name (birth certificate, passport, or court documents) and proof of your address (driver’s licence, municipal/federal correspondence, financial/residential documents, or a utility bill) are required to enroll. Please ensure you have these documents available for registration.
