LA-DMG-P-Taylor-26

I am truly excited and honoured to have the opportunity to join the outstanding team at Dr. Morris Gibson, and I look forward to learning, collaborating, and building meaningful relationships with staff, students, and families. I would also like to extend my appreciation to the staff and families at École Secondaire Foothills Composite High School / Alberta High School of Fine Arts. It has been a privilege to return to where my journey began and continue growing alongside such a dedicated community for the last two years.

Foothills School Division is pleased to announce the appointment of David Taylor as Principal at Dr. Morris Gibson School, effective for the 2026–2027 school year.

David brings a breadth of teaching and school leadership experience across all grade levels. He has served in Vice‑Principal roles at Cayley School (K–8) from 2018–2022, Westmount School (K–9) from 2022–2024 and is currently a Vice‑Principal at École Secondaire Foothills Composite High School | Alberta High School of Fine Arts. Through these roles, David has developed and exhibits a strong understanding of diverse school contexts and student learning needs.

David’s leadership is grounded in strong instructional leadership and inclusive practices. As an accomplished numeracy educator, he sets high expectations for both students and staff in literacy and numeracy education. His leadership approach emphasizes the development of healthy relationships through a culture of belonging, engaging all learners through universal design, and maintaining a continuum of support to ensure that all students can experience success.

David is committed to fostering welcoming and supportive learning environments where students feel valued and challenged in their learning. His focus on instructional excellence, inclusive school culture, and relationship‑based leadership aligns well with the values and priorities of Dr. Morris Gibson School and Foothills School Division.

David holds a Bachelor of Communication and Culture from the University of Calgary, a Bachelor of Education from the University of Calgary, and a Master of Education from Gonzaga University. He also holds, in good standing, his provincial Leadership Quality Standard credential, further supporting his readiness for the role of Principal.

We are confident that David will provide thoughtful, student‑centered leadership to the Dr. Morris Gibson School community and will continue to support a culture of learning, inclusion, and student success.

David shares his excitement in joining the team at DMG “I am truly excited and honoured to have the opportunity to join the outstanding team at Dr. Morris Gibson, and I look forward to learning, collaborating, and building meaningful relationships with staff, students, and families. I would also like to extend my appreciation to the staff and families at École Secondaire Foothills Composite High School / Alberta High School of Fine Arts. It has been a privilege to return to where my journey began and continue growing alongside such a dedicated community for the last two years.”
