Powerful learning can come in small voices.

At the March 25, 2026 Public Board Meeting, grade 2 students of Millarville Community School presented to the Board of Trustees. 

Led by Ms. Olver and a grade 8 student leader, each grade 2 student shared their learning of the Alberta Flag, connecting it to the land, Canada, and even the FSD logo. Students also proudly shared their crafted provincial shields of Alberta, showcasing skills in arts, mathematics, social studies, and critical thinking to define and layer each element of the provincial emblem. 

This is Grade 2 Social Studies in action—exploring how land and place differ across Canada, and how traditions, heritage, and shared symbols help build belonging in our communities.
