FSD welcomes provincial investment into classrooms
As a school division serving a unique mix of rural and urban communities, Foothills School Division knows that strong learning environments matter deeply to students, families, and staff. This investment will help schools respond to enrollment pressures while providing greater flexibility as planning continues for the 2026–2027 school year.
While staffing and school-based allocations are still being finalized, Foothills School Division will continue working closely with school leaders to ensure these additional resources are used in ways that best support students and classrooms throughout the Division. States Theresa Letendre, Chair for FSD Board of Trustees, "The focus remains on thoughtful, school-based decisions that respond to local needs and support positive learning conditions. This provincial investment will also help protect and strengthen the rich learning experiences and opportunities that students and families value across Foothills School Division."
She continues, "As schools continue responding to evolving student needs, the additional funding will help sustain welcoming, supportive learning environments and the breadth of programming, pathways, and supports available to students."
Foothills School Division appreciates the province’s recognition that student success requires continued investment in divisions serving both growing and rural communities. Equitable access to high-quality learning opportunities matters for all students, regardless of where they live or attend school, and this funding represents an important step in supporting that shared goal.
